Meet Your Therapist

Hi, I’m Mel, registered massage therapist and owner of Intrinsic Therapy. I have more than 20 years of experience as a massage therapist, having built my career in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, before returning to my hometown of Bay d’Espoir in 2022. I’m proud to now provide personalized therapeutic massage to clients in St. Alban’s and throughout the surrounding Bay d’Espoir area.

I graduated from Northumberland College in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in 2003 with a Diploma in Massage Therapy. I am a registered member of the College of Massage Therapists of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Newfoundland and Labrador Massage Therapists’ Association.

Over more than two decades in practice, I’ve worked with a wide range of conditions and developed a strong understanding of how different areas of the body can contribute to pain and dysfunction. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to massage. Every treatment is tailored to what your body needs that day.

One of the things I enjoy most about my work is figuring out what may be contributing to a problem when the source of the discomfort isn’t immediately obvious. Sometimes the area that hurts isn’t the area that needs the most attention. Through assessment and hands-on treatment, I work to identify those connections and develop a treatment approach that makes sense for you.
